Augusta, GA – Mildred Johnson, 84, was called home to be with Jesus on Monday, December 12, 2011 at Trinity Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2011 at Platt’s Funeral Home Crawford Avenue Chapel with Pastor Benny Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Westview Cemetery.
Mildred was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church and a member of the Richmond County Committee for Good Government. She worked for many years as the manager of Johnson’s Supermarket. Mildred loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them at the lake. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her loving husband of 65 years, Fred Johnson, one son, Donald W. Johnson and wife Carol of Augusta, three brothers, Lamar Young of Chula Vista, CA, Kenneth Young of Jonesboro, GA, J.C. Young of Sebring, FL, one sister, Barbara Cheatle of Evans, GA, three grandchildren, Michelle Collman and husband Chris of Augusta, Chris Johnson and wife Tracy of Evans, GA, Casey Johnson of Augusta, and six great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Casey Johnson, Chandler Johnson, Chris Collman, James Hornsby, and Ricky Poston.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
