Pastor James Edgar Renfroe, 63, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Willson Hospice House in Albany.
Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Wednesday, December 14 at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Ruffin, Rev. Jerry McDaniel, Rev. J.W. Taylor, Lee Renfroe and Matt Renfroe officiating. Interment will follow in the Ocilla Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Pastor Renfroe was born September 28, 1948 in Fitzgerald to the late Sidney and Elizabeth Whittle Renfroe. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life, graduating from Fitzgerald High School in 1966. Pastor Renfroe attended Norman College, Mobile College and received his Master’s Degree in Theology from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was ordained by the First Baptist Church in Fitzgerald, served as Pastor for Abba Baptist Church and former Pastor for Calvary Baptist, Mt. Olive Baptist, Northside Baptist, Westside Baptist, High Hill Baptist, Haw Pond Baptist, Oak Grove Baptist, Lebanon Baptist, Pine Grove Baptist and First Baptist in Summterville, FL. He was a former employee of Mathews Furniture Company and Harper Furniture Company.
He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael E, & Teresa Renfroe of Thomasville and Lee and Amanda Renfroe of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Myles Renfroe and Lilly Belle Renfroe; sister, Martha Renfroe-Garner of Atlanta and a brother, Charles Renfroe of San Francisco, CA. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Sidney Renfroe, Jr., and a brother-in-law, Leon Garner.
