West Boylston

Ronald C. Varner, 86, of 155 Goodale St. died Sunday (Feb.17) in Saint Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center, Worcester after an illness.

He leaves his wife of 57 years Mary J. (Picard) Varner, a son, Stephen J. Varner of West Boylston, three daughters, Sue Lamoureux of West Boylston, Kathleen A. Hurtubise of Holden and Christine M. Mackie of Worcester, a brother, Burlin Varner of Pinehurst, N.C., five grand-daughters and one great-grandson. He was born in Nova Scotia son of James and Lyda (Lohnes) Varner. He graduated from Commerce High School and has lived in West Boylston for 46 years prior to that he lived in Worcester.

He was an Army Veteran of WWII serving in the European African Theatre and received the purple heart.

He was a Traffic Manager for Wright Line for 35 years retiring in 1986.

A Funeral Service will be private. Burial will be private in the spring in Mt. Vernon Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The West Boylston Fire and Ambulance Fund 39 Worcester St. West Boylston 01583. Fay Brothers Funeral Home 1 West Boylston St. is directing arrangements.
