Dorothy L. (Nolan) Turner, 86, of Mansfield, formerly of Wareham, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Norwood Hospital in Norwood. She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur J. Turner, Sr.
Born in South Boston, MA on September 7, 1925, she was a daughter of the late John and Esther (Ashport) Nolan.
Dot grew up in South Boston and was educated in Boston parochial schools. A resident of Mansfield for the past 2 years, she had formerly made her home in Wareham for 27 years.
A dedicated homemaker to her adoring family, Mrs. Turner helped in the war effort as a hydraulic press operator during WWII.
While living in Wareham, Dot was very active as a member of the Wareham Emblem Club Chapter 99 and attended the Wareham Council on Aging. Since living in Mansfield, she also enjoyed attending both the Mansfield and Norton Council on Aging. Her other hobbies included traveling, crafts, and especially playing bingo.
She is survived by her devoted children Arthur J. Turner, Jr. of South Carolina, Elaine D. Floman and Karen L. Kelley both of Mansfield, and the late James J. Turner. The dear sister of Edward Nolan of New Hampshire, Katherine Brackett of Wisconsin, Ann Nolan of Mansfield, and Lillian McKenna of Quincy, she is also survived by her cherished 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Her Funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday December 14th at 9:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Wareham.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday December 13th from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
