Obituary

William (Bill) Henry Fehrs, Jr., 84, Douglas, GA passed away peacefully on December 6, 2011 at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 30, 1927 in Omaha, Nebraska, moving to the Chicago, Illinois area soon thereafter. He resided in LaGrange, Illinois until his junior year, at which time he enlisted in the US Navy, spending 18 months in the South Pacific during WW II. Following the war, he graduated from the University of Illinois in 1950 and worked with several different companies; he retired after 25 years with Kaiser Aluminum, then working for Fabwel, Inc. until 1988. He attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church where he had been an active member of 47 years and had served as junior and senior warden a number of times. He was also a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Cashiers, North Carolina, where he and his family spent their summers for the past 10 years.

He is survived by his three children: Bill Fehrs III (Sheena) of Atlanta, GA, Laurie Fehrs Johnson (David) of LaGrange, GA and Kay Fehrs Srodulski of Douglas, GA. He will be missed by his ten grandchildren: Alina, Cristina, Adam, Katie, Ashley, Stephanie, Sarah, Emily, Rachel and Michael, and two great grandchildren, as well as his sister, Mary Ann Swisher of Atlantic, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Peggy) Fehrs.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at 12:00 PM at St. Andrews Episcopal Church. A fellowship will immediately follow the service in the church Parish Hall.
