Augusta, GA---Ms. Nettie Elease Riley Carter entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2011 at Doctors’ Hospital. She was 91 years of age.
Celebration of life services will take place on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm, at the graveside, in West View Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Taylor officiating.
Mrs. Carter was the devoted and loving daughter of the late, James Whitcomb and Mamie Riley. She was preceded in death by her brothers, George Riley and Albert Riley and her beloved daughter, Jackie Poole.
She is survived by her brother, J.W. Riley and her treasured children, Betty (Al) Hanson, Billy (Beverly) Carter and Mary Carter, all of Augusta, Georgia. She is also survived by four loving grandchildren, Karen Chavous, Tab Carter, Tracy Carter and Kresha Howe, seven great grandchildren and a special niece, Sandra Riley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bennie Chavous, Alan Chavous, Galphin Chavous and Robert Suggs.
The family will receive friends during the hours of 6:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at Platt’s Crawford Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, 1105 Fury’s Lane, Suite D Augusta, GA 30907 or the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of Kentwood Nursing Facility for their outstanding care of Mrs. Carter, for the past eleven months.
