Carroll N. Scott, Sr.
Augusta, GA - Carroll N. Scott, Sr., 86, of Augusta, GA died Tuesday, December 6, 2011.
Funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Chapel of Platt's Funeral Home, with Rev. Billy Atkins officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Cemetery, Augusta, GA.
He was born in Newington, GA March 11, 1925 to the late William McDuffie Scott and Lula Kay Coursey. He was retired from Unocal/Pure Oil Company as an Account Manager after serving 40 years. He proudly served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, as a combat veteran serving during the battles fought at Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
Mr. Scott is survived by his wife Willie Kennedy-Scott, his son C. Neal Scott Jr., (Donna), Sister-in-law Mildred Scott, step son Rusty Kennedy (Kim), step daughters, Susan Childers (Gene), Augusta, GA and Vicky Shipman (Darryl) Waxhall, NC, several nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his 1st wife Sowdreth Helen Bragg, his siblings, Hershal, Carsley, Vance, Wayne Scott and sister Billy Holley.
Active pallbearers will be Carsley Scott, Jr., Wayne Scott, Jr., Darryl Shipman, Scott Shipman, Doug Poole, and Jodi Stubbs. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Augusta Richmond County Marshall's Department.
Visitation will be 6-8pm, Friday, December 9, 2011 at Platt's Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Ave, Augusta, GA.
