Noella G. "Nana" (Manny) O'Brien, 91, of New Bedford died Sunday March 14, 2004 at the New Bedford Jewish Convalescent Home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John J. O'Brien, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Alde and Alice (Lapalme) Manny, she had lived in New Bedford and Acushnet for most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mrs. O'Brien was formerly employed by the Acushnet Company-Golf Ball Division for 25 years until her retirement in 1977.
She attended the Project Independence Day Care.
Survivors include a daughter, Joanne F. O'Brien Costa of New Bedford; four grandchildren, Susan Lozada and Pam Cruz, both of New Bedford, and Kelly O'Brien and Shawn O'Brien, both of Michigan; three great-grandchildren, Dennis "DJ" Cruz, Kendra Cruz, and Morgan Mendes, all of New Bedford, and nine great-grandchildren of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Raymond O'Brien and sister of the late Joe Manny, Rahea Manny, George Manny, Norman Manny, and Georgette Roberge.
Her Private Funeral Service was held on Wednesday morning March 17, 2004 in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery.
