Obituary

Robert W. Lingham age 88 of Halifax, formerly of Brockton, died unexpectedly Tuesday December 6, 2011 at Signature Healthcare/Brockton Hospital. He was the loving husband of the late Virginia A. “Ginny” (Bailey) Lingham.

Robert was born in Brockton, raised in Hanson and had lived in Brockton for most of his life before moving to Halifax 11 years ago. During WWII he served in the US Army in the European Theatre under the command of General Patton. Following his discharge, he began a longtime career at the A&P Supermarket in the Campello section of Brockton.

In his free time Robert enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots and walking along the beach; his favorite was Nantasket Beach. He also loved animals especially his cat Ashes.

Robert is survived by his two daughters Suzanne Lingham and Paula Pearson and her husband Kenneth all of Halifax. He leaves three grandchildren Robert, Karrie and Abby Pearson and two great grandchildren Tristian Lawn and Kenneth Pearson. He was the brother of the late Forrest Lingham and Dorothy Reynolds and leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Thursday 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home Friday at 10:30 am.
