Jean Elizabeth Woodworth passed away December 4, 2011.
Born in Newton, MA she graduated from the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. She also received a bachelor’s degree from Eastern Connecticut State University and a Master of Science degree in Healthcare Management from Renssalaer Polytechnic Institute. She worked as an RN for many years and at various hospitals in four different states, including Holy Cross Hospital in Wheaton, MD, Westerly Hospital in Westerly, RI and Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, CT.
She is the beloved mother of Pamela Shank of Laurel, MD, Timothy Callahan of Plymouth, MA, Arthur Callahan of North Stonington, CT, Harold Callahan of Cumberland, RI, and Paul Callahan of Alexandria, VA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Timothy Callahan III, Tyler Shank, Tina Alejandro and Carlos Alejandro; her sister, Janet Chatfield of Hudson, NH, her brother, Ernest Woodworth of Louisville, KY, and her daughters-in-law, Lydia Callahan and Susan Callahan.
She loved the outdoors, having been an avid birdwatcher and horseback rider, and also enjoyed reading, knitting, spinning wool, travelling, oil painting, playing guitar and piano, and caring for her pet dogs and cats.
Her family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Friday from 12;30pm-1:30pm, immediately followed by a funeral service. Burial will be at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly, RI.
