Shirley A. (Saulnier) Acord, age 76, of Brockton died December 4, 2011 at Signature Healthcare-Brockton Hospital following a brief illness. She was the wife for 40 years of the late Delbert T. “Dell” Acord. Born in Boston, daughter of the late Edmund and Levinie (Fraughton) Saulnier. Shirley was raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. She had been employed for several years at Woolworths Department Store at Westgate Mall and for many years she supported her husband in his Veterans of Foreign Wars affiliations traveling throughout the United States. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, word search puzzles and had been a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes and St. Patrick Churches. Her children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments were Shirley’s greatest pride.
Shirley is survived by her children Dell Acord and his wife Maureen McGeary-Acord of Brockton, Alice Acord of Clearwater, FL, Kim Fontaine and her husband Mark of Scituate and Matthew Acord and his wife Tracey of East Taunton; seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of Barbara Davis of Mesa, AZ, Pauline Perillo and Maurice Saulnier both of Somerville and the late Henry, Donald, Paul, Richard and Harvey Saulnier, Bertha Flynn, Kay Marchetti and Peggy Warren.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 3-7pm. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home on Wednesday at a 9am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10am. Burial in Cedar Knoll Cemetery, East Taunton.
