Obituary

Mr. Anthony D. Uva, age 73, a life-long resident of Medford, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on December 3rd, following a long period of declining health. He was the beloved husband of Emily (Vozzella) Uva and together they shared more than 49 years of marriage. Born in Boston he was the son of the late Pasquale and Rose (Ianello) Uva.

Anthony was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and honorably serving with the United States Army from 1957 to 1959. Upon his return home he began his career as a firefighter with the City of Medford Fire Department where he faithfully served for many years until his early retirement due to health conditions. Anthony was a car enthusiast throughout most of his life. He loved taking his daily walks but most enjoyed his time spent with his family. He cherished his time with his granddaughter and was so proud of her many achievements.

In addition to his beloved wife Emily, He is survived by his children, Anthony Uva and his wife Suzanne of Reading, Christine Mastrocola and her husband Nicholas of Stoneham. He was the loving grandfather of A. Joy Mastrocola. He is also survived by his sister; Anne Gouveia of South Carolina, Brothers; Michael Uva of Stoneham, Albert Uva of Florida and many loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., MEDFORD, Wednesday, December 7th, at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4 thru 8. Services will conclude with military honors and burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Memorial contributions may be made in Tony's memory to Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice, 178 Savin St., Suite 300, Malden, MA 02148.
