Zera Lee Hodnett Owens, 84, died Sunday, December 4, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Olin Hamlin will officiate with burial to follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery. Chance Owens, Rick Hodnett, Nick Hodnett, Russell Hodnett, Johnathon Hodnett, Timmy Hodnett and Lauren Woods will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 5, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Owens was born on July 3, 1927 in Tift County and was the daughter of T. Z. Hodnett and Nannie Lou Pitts Hodnett, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Rudolph Owens, who died on July 23, 1968; and one brother, Henry Hodnett. She retired from Oxford Shipping and was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Owens is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Gregory and Andrea Owens of Tifton; one sister and brother-in-law, Bonnie and Pat Bailey of Tifton; one sister-in-law, June Hodnett of Tifton; two grandsons, Hunter Chance Owens of Tifton and Lauren Woods of Florida; one granddaughter, Lacey Woods of Tifton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
