Obituary

HAVERHILL-Thelma E. (Dyson) Fitzpatrick, 84, of Lawrence passed away at the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center in Haverhill on Friday, December 2, 2011 surrounded by her children.

She was born in Lawrence on October 9, 1927, daughter of the late Lawrence H. and Josephine (Mechan) Dyson. Thelma was educated in the Lawrence school system. She was employed by Western Electric in North Andover, First Essex Bank in Lawrence, and also for the United States Postal Service in Methuen. Thelma was an avid bowler. She was a member of the Shawsheen Women's league for many years winning several local league titles and New England tournaments. Thelma enjoyed cooking and traveling, but was never more at home than when she was on the beaches of Seabrook and Salisbury during the summer months.

She is the wife of the late Joseph P. Fitzpatrick, and she is survived by her children Joseph J. and his wife Deborah of Salem, NH, Robert H. and his wife Elizabeth of West Palm Beach, FL, Timothy M. and his wife Colleen of Salem, NH, Ellen Mary and her husband Dennis Perry of Somerville, Daniel J. and his wife Natividad of Lawrence and James X. and his wife Jill of Methuen. There was a mutual adoration between Thelma and all fifteen of her grand children & great grand children. She is also survived by her brother Lawrence W. Dyson, and sister-in-law Therese Fitzpatrick, and several nieces and nephews. Thelma is predeceased by her daughter Katherine Josephine and her sister Virginia (Dyson) Emmett.

The family would like to express its most sincere gratitude to the staff of the Hannah Duston Healthcare Center and Merrimack Valley Hospice for their genuine care giving to both Thelma and her family in their time of need.
