WICKHAM, John J. - Of Natick formerly of Wellesley, November 30, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Madeline E. (Mara) Wickham. Devoted father of John M. “Jack” Wickham and his wife Terri of Medfield/Walpole and Robert C. Wickham and his wife Dee Dee of Natick. Grandfather of John D. Wickham and his wife Heather of Plymouth, Katie Alf and her husband Michael of Batavia, IL, Megan Bissanti and her husband Michael of Walpole, Kelly Wickham of Natick and Robert “Bobby” Wickham and his wife Tracey of Natick. Great-grandfather of Carly, Averie and Tessa Wickham of Plymouth, Sarah and Ryan Alf of Batavia, IL and Lily and Max Bissanti of Walpole. Brother of the late Mary T. Smithson.

John was born Jan. 10, 1914 and raised in Quincy. He played football and baseball at Quincy High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in Italy, Africa and Japan. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. He was wounded in Italy during the battle for Monte Cassino and awarded the Purple Herat and Bronze Star. He earned his Law Degree from Northeastern University and was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Past general counsel of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, past counsel for the Wellesley Police Patrolman’s Association, past counsel for the Wellesley Fireman’s Association and very active in the Wellesley Little League and Babe Ruth League.

Funeral from the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16) WELLESLEY, Monday, December 5th at 8 AM. Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Wellesley at 9 AM. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Visiting hours Sunday, December 4th from 4-8 PM. Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham.
