Obituary

Sarah M. (Wilkins) Wright, a 25 year resident of Melrose and formerly of Dorchester, died on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a long illness. She was 89 years old.

Sarah was born in Boston on March 1, 1922 to the late Frederick and Julia (Quinn) Wilkins. She grew up in Dorchester and attended and graduated from the Boston Public School system. Sarah enlisted into the United States Coast Guard on November 19, 1943 and served her country proudly and honorably during World War II. She was discharged on October 29, 1945 with the rank of Ship's Cook, Third Class. Sarah began working for the United States Postal Service in 1965 at South Postal Annex in South Boston and retired as a Supervisor in 1985 after 20 years of faithful service to her country. She was a member of the Ladies Auxillary V.F.W. Harold O. Young Post # 2394 of Melrose and a member of the D.A.V. Post.

Sarah is the beloved wife of the late Grady J. Wright. She is the devoted mother of Judith Wright of Brookline and Marjorie Teixeira and her husband Steven of Melrose. She is the loving Grandmother of 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She is the loving aunt of John Ledwith of Burlington and several grandnieces and grandnephews.

Sarah's Funeral Services and burial were held privately.
