Obituary

BEVERLY: Rene R. LeClerc, 84, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 30, 2011 in the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Florence A. (Abate) LeClerc.
Born in Salem on February 7, 1927, he was the son of the late Hormidas and Florina (St. Pierre) LeClerc. A lifelong resident of Beverly, he attended Beverly public schools.
Rene was employed as a tube technician at Varian Associates in Beverly for thirty-two years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Varian Bowling League and the Italian Community Center in Beverly. An avid gardener, he also loved dancing, playing horseshoes and fishing. He also enjoyed furniture restoration.
In addition to his wife of sixty-two years, he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Barbara (McLaughlin) LeClerc of Georgetown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Doreen and David Sullivan of Moon Township, PA and Donna and James Snow of Groveland; three grandchildren, Jesse Sullivan and his wife, Snjezana, Daniel Sullivan and Steven Snow; a great-grandson, Liam Sullivan; two sisters, Ruth Modugno of San Diego, CA and Rita Brooks of Manchester-by-the-Sea; six sisters-in-law, Lee Cavossa, Anita and her husband, Richard Meuse, Patricia Abate and Joanne LeClerc all of Beverly, Constance LeClerc of FL and Penny LeClerc of CA and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Guisti and Loretta Camden and five brothers, Constant, William, Raymond, Leo and Girard LeClerc.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday from the Grondin Funeral Home, 376 Cabot Street, Beverly at 9a.m followed by a funeral Mass to be celebrated in St. John the Evangelist Church, New Balch Street, Beverly at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beverly.
