Obituary

MIDDLEBORO – E. Shanna (Madden) Nicholson, wife of the late Richard L. Nicholson, died at Golden Living Center - Oak Hill in Middleboro on Nov. 26, 2011.
She was 89.
Born in Hazard, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Malissa (Cornett) Madden.
Formerly of Hingham, Mrs. Nicholson resided in Taunton until a recent move to Middleboro.
Raised and educated in Kentucky, she attended Lincoln Memorial University in Kentucky.
Mrs. Nicholson was employed as a flight attendant for the former Capital Airlines.
She later worked as a teacher’s aide for the Hingham School Department.
A member and Past Chapter President of Clipped Wings, she loved singing and music, and was a former director of Hingham’s Opals Choral Group.
She also enjoyed flying and skydiving, and received her pilot’s license while in her late seventy’s.
Survivors include a daughter, Jodi Bernardino and her husband Kerry of Conway, SC; a niece, Mary Jo Moloney of Lexington, KY; a nephew, George M. Gumbert, III of Bowling Green, KY; a brother-in-law, Dr. George M. Gumbert, Jr. of Lexington, KT; a grandnephew and two grandnieces.
She was also the mother of the late Shanna L. Nicholson, and the sister of the late Fred Madden and Skip Gumbert.
Funeral services will be held at the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Dec. 2nd at 11 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Dec. 1st from 4 to 7 p.m.
