Mr. Horace Turner, 89, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, November 21, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Turner was born on April 16, 1922 to the late William D. And Lillith Tatum Turner. Mr. Turner was a veteran of World War II and he retired from the US Air Force after serving 31 years; he was a member of First Baptist Church serving as a deacon; Men’s Sunday School Class director/teacher; Director of Elderly Food Box Program.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church with burial following in the Douglas City Cemetery.
Survivors include: sons: Walter Denny Turner and Scott Allen Turner both of Hawaii; Keith Alden Turner, MA and Phillip Anthony Turner of FL; brothers: Lawson E. Turner, Douglas, GA and Hubert Turner, Fitzgerald, GA; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sims Funeral Home. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
