Obituary

Charlton – Albert J. Nowlan, 79, of Charlton and formerly of Worcester, died on Friday, November 25th in Saint Vincent Hospital.

He leaves three sons, Raymond of Dudley, Donald of Webster and Michael of Elk Grove, CA; 5 grandchildren, Daniel and Kristin of Worcester and Dudley and Robert, Sean and Cassidy all of Elk Grove, CA and his partner Barbara Tremblay of Charlton. Mr. Nowlan also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in both Canada and the United States.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Germaine, who died in 2003; a daughter, Linda who died in 1998; two brothers, Alcide who died in 1991 and Gerard who died in 2011. He is also predeceased by two brothers both named Lionel and a sister Alida who all died in infancy.

Albert was born on November 25, 1932 in Moncton, N.B., Canada, son of the late Pierre J. Nowlan and Marie Catherine (Gaudet) Nowlan Richard.

He was educated in Canada and came to the United States in 1956. He held several positions with the Johnson Steel & Wire Company in Worcester for 24 years. He then worked at the Water Pollution Abatement District Plant in Millbury retiring in 1995.

He served as a Lector for 8 years at the former Holy Name of Jesus Church and as a Eucharistic Minister for over 25 years at the former Saint Charles Borromeo Church both in Worcester.

Albert loved music and played in various bands for many years. He volunteered extensively at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, the Oxford Senior Center and the First Congregational Church in Worcester.

The funeral will be held on Monday, November 28th at 10 AM in Saint Ann’s Church 652 Main Street North Oxford. Calling hours are on Sunday November 27th from 2 to 4 PM in the Alfred Roy & Sons Funeral Home 12 Hammond Street Worcester. After cremation, entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester.
