Wilhelmina P. (Wewengkang) Brouwer, 99, of Franklin died November 23 in the Harrington House Nursing Home in Walpole. She was the wife of the late Maurits Brouwer who died in 1977.
Born in Indonesia, August 31, 1912, the daughter of the late Johannes and Franscine (Platt) Wewengkang, Mrs. Brouwer was raised in Indonesia and had lived in Holland for several years prior to coming to Franklin in 1960.
While in Indonesia Mrs. Brouwer had taught school and later when she came to Franklin she worked as a bookkeeper for the Curtis Lumber and Coal Company in Milford.
Mrs. Brouwer had been an active and energetic member of the Franklin Federated Church for many years. She also loved to travel.
She is survived by her children, Arnold V. Brouwer of Foxboro, Roy R. Brouwer of Franklin, Pauline Kaluhiokalani of North Attleboro and Sylvia VanVeluwen of the Netherlands.
She was the mother of the late Johan and Ludwig Brouwer.
She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday- November 28 in the Franklin Federated Church at 11:00 a.m.
Burial will be in Union Street Cemetery in Franklin.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home Franklin, 131 Main St. in Franklin.
