Obituary

WORCESTER-Aris D. Felis, 71, of Worcester, died Monday, November 21st in UMass-Memorial Hospital. He leaves his wife of 44 years Delores S. (Lupu) Felis; his daughter, Margaret A. Felis and her husband Andreas Tzineris of Amherst; two brothers, George Felis and his wife Michelle of St. Jerome, Canada and Constantine Felis and his wife, Joanne of Newton; three sisters, Marianthi Dimitriadis and her husband, Eleftherios of Ft. Lee, NJ, Efeginia Giotas of Manchester, NH and Zoitsa Mocas of Edessa, Greece; and many nephews and nieces. Two sisters, Evangelia Velentzas and K. Felis predeceased him.

He was born in Fourka, Greece the son of Dimitri and Despou (Papaianniou) Felis, moved to Canada and then to Worcester over 45 years ago. Mr. Felis had worked as a steel fabricator for Ken-Weld. He was an active member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral and had served as parish council president, and long time council member and a member and past president of its Seniors Group. He was also an active member of AHEPA, and served as its president and district governor, and a member and past president of the Pan-Epirotic Society. Aris will be remembered for his fund raising efforts on behalf of the church; he had at one time chaired the bi-annual Greek Festival, and was chair of the festival raffle committee, and a member of the St. Spyridon Cathedral Annual Golf Tournament Committee.

The funeral is Wednesday, November 23rd from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with his funeral service at 10:00 a.m. in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, November 22nd from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
