Obituary


BRADFORD: Carol C. Faxon, 91, retired Haverhill building inspector, died Friday, November 18, 2011, following a brief illness in the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Helene A. (LaCourse) Kervin Faxon with whom he shared twenty-two years of marriage. He was also the husband of the late Katherine E. (Connolly) Faxon who died in 1989.
Born in Plaistow, NH on November 2, 1920, he was the son of the late Albert S. and Lena A. (Moulton) Faxon. Carol had resided in Plaistow for many years before moving to Bradford in 1945. He attended the Pollard Elementary School in Plaistow and was a graduate of Sanborn Seminary School in Kingston, NH.
Carol enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 10, 1942 and served as a Carpenter’s Mate First Class during World War II before being honorably discharged on May 21, 1951.
He was employed as the building inspector for the City of Haverhill for twenty-five years before retiring in 1982. In retirement he worked as a supervisor for the Early & Sons Construction Company of Haverhill for several years until 1992. He had also once worked as a carpenter at the Charlestown Navy Yard and Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.
Carol could best be described as a “family man” who was a great provider for his family. His life revolved around being a good husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. These roles he truly cherished in his heart. In his spare time he enjoyed dabbling in small engine repair, snow mobiling, gardening and doing small carpentry projects.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his eight children, Brian C. Faxon and his wife, Gail of Hanson, Gregory P. Faxon and his significant other, Gail Mowbray of Bradford, Kathleen A. Eldredge of Rockland, ME, Mary E. Faxon of Bradford, Mark E. Faxon of Haverhill, Jay E. Faxon and his wife, Pamela, Paul V. Faxon and his wife, Mary, Christopher J. Faxon and his wife, Christine all of Bradford; four step-children, Linda J. Boulter and her husband, Edward “Ted” of Raymond, NH, Thomas W. Kervin and his wife, Tamerson of Sarasota, FL, David F. Kervin and his wife, Kathleen of Groveland and Debra A. Millett and her fiancé, Richard W. Noury of Haverhill; thirty-eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Audrey and Al Woodbury of Hampstead, NH, and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his four sisters and three brothers.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday in the Sacred Hearts Church, 165 S. Main Street, Bradford at 10 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Monday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill from 3 – 7 p.m. Relatives and friend are cordially invited to attend. Interment with Military Honors will be held in the Elmwood Cemetery in Bradford. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
