Obituary

Clifford S. Firth, 90 of Natick died Wednesday, November 16 2011. He was one of seven children born to Teresa May (Lloyd) Firth and Austin W. Firth on November 5, 1921 in Gloucester, Massachusetts. He’s descended from generations of Nova Scotia fishermen who immigrated to Gloucester in the early 1900s. He served in the 8th Army Air Corps during World War II as a radio operator on reconnaissance aircraft in North Africa and Europe. He moved to Natick in 1948 and lived there until his death. He worked in the printing trades for newspaper and book publishers until his retirement in 1987. He was a licensed ham radio operator (KA1VRP), an avid fisherman, hunter and camper. A self-taught musician, he played the guitar and fiddle, as well as created a tradition of friends and family “sing alongs”. He was a member of the Elks Lodge 1425 in Natick and the National Rifle Association. His wife of 52 years, Louise (Kitchen) Firth predeceased him in 1995. He is survived by his companion, Lucille (Quinton) Goddard, a sister-in-law Rita (Kitchen) Doran of Wayland, his ten children and their spouses: Louise Firth Campbell and George Campbell of Boxford, Linda Firth and Jim McNiff of Salisbury, Lorraine Firth Francoise Bibbo and Joe Bibbo of Natick, Loretta Firth Sheppard of Natick, Clifford C. and Anne Firth of Hyde Park, Laura Firth Cronin and Bill Cronin of Hyannis, Lucille Firth Eagar of Wakefield, NH, Chris and Diane Firth of Bellingham, Lisa Firth of Whittinsville and Charles and Wendy Firth of Hopedale, and Joanna Schomberg, seventeen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, three great, great grandchildren and nine nieces and nephews.Visiting hours at the John Everett and Sons Funeral Home , 4 Park Street, at Natick Common are Friday November 18 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will held at St. Patrick’s Church in Natick at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 19.Interment Glenwood Cemetery South Natick.
