Grace Ellen (McEwen) Johnson, 88, formerly of Noank, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Fairview in Groton. She was born September 13, 1923 the daughter of Helen and Lewis McEwen.
She was predeceased in 1974 by her husband Walter Johnson. She is survived by her son Kenneth Johnson; her daughter Suellen Deason; her 7 grandchildren Patrick and Adrian Johnson, Kate Atkinson, Ruth Wright, Beth Brown, and William Deason and 7 great grandchildren, Dayton and Cassidy Brown, Stephanie and Mathew Deason, Noah, Nathan, and Lily Grace Johnson. She is predeceased by a grandson Thomas Brown, her daughter-in-law, Barbara Johnson; her siblings Frances Coombs, Wilma Winsted, and Emerson McEwen.
Grace enjoyed living her life on a farm taking care of her numerous different animals even well into her 80’s. Her interests included quilting, volunteering at Mystic Seaport Museum, and traveling to many countries. She was a member of the Noank Baptist Church where she volunteered at the Corner Closet and was a member of the Evening Circle. She worked at Electric Boat for over 20 years
A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11am at the Noank Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Noank Valley Cemetery.
