Obituary

Worcester: Marion J. (Swenson) Aldrich, 82, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011, at home surrounded by her loving family. She leaves 3 children- Paul and Eileen Aldrich of Westminster, Steven and Cheryl Aldrich of New Ipswich, NH, and Carol Plourde of Maine, as well as several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 1 brother- Richard Swenson and 2 sisters-Norma Milner and G. Joann Carlson.

Marion was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Arthur and Signe (Trulson) Swenson. She graduated from high school, college, and went on the earn two masters degrees from Fitchburg State College. She worked for many years as an 8th grade teacher in the Lunenburg School System. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Worcester Women's Club, and The Worcester Art Museum. She was a former trustee of Forbush Memorial Library in Westminster for 15 years and was instrumental in establishing the present Children's Room and setting up the annual June Craft Fair there. She also served as a docent for the Worcester Historical Society, and was a member of the Smithsonian and National Geographic Society. Marion's interests included biking, walking, gardening, reading, and taking care of her lovely home. Marion especially loved to travel and traveled extensively in Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, and Europe - with several trips to Sweden to visit relatives and research her family history. Marion was looking forward to a trip to Alaska.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will be held prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. in All Faiths Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church 41 Whitmarsh Ave. Worcester, MA 01606.
