Helen Rogers Anthony, age 82, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at her home in Water Valley, MS. She was born in Yalobusha County on January 22, 1929 to the late Isaac Sperry and Lena Mae Clements Rogers. Helen retired from Bell South after twenty years of service as a telephone operator. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Water Valley, MS. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, reading her Bible, raising children and writing poetry. She loved her family, her grandchildren and her friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at First United Methodist Church in Water Valley, MS. Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM with Bro. Phillip Dearman officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS with Scott Minor, James Person, Bill Larson, Melvin Ford, Binnie Turnage, and Stanley Crow serving as pallbearers.
Helen is survived by one daughter, Pat Anthony Minor (Scott) of Memphis, TN.; one son, Isaac R. Anthony of Water Valley, MS; three grandchildren, Angie Holdsenback, Benita Bonds and Alanya Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Justin, Brandon, Elley and Brittany.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Anthony and her daughter, Rebecca Carol Woods.
