Obituary

WORCESTER-George T. Tirella, 85, of Worcester, died Sunday, November 13th in the Christopher House after a ten year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He leaves his wife of 63 years, Rita B. (Dziemian) Tirella; two sons, Arthur S. Tirella, George D. Tirella, both of Worcester; two daughters, Rita J. Tirella and Kris A. Burgess and her husband Wayne of Worcester; the great joy of his life, his two granddaughters, Kara and Dallas Burgess. He also leaves a sister, Mary Moore and her husband George of Longmeadow; his dearly loved sisters-in-law, Theresa Eager, Josephine Stone, and Virginia Lewandowski; and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by eight siblings, Louis, Alphonse, Alfred, Carmen, Cele, Beatrice, Susan, and Sam.
He was born in Worcester the son of Samuel and Maria (Paladino) Tirella. Mr. Tirella was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. He was an auto and truck mechanic by trade and worked for the City of Worcester Department of Public Works as a foreman for 20 years, retiring in 1993.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Brookside Unit, who took good care of George and also to the girls that came to care for George from the Jewish Home Hospice.
Calling hours are Thursday, November 17th from 5:00 until 8:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue. Entombment will be private in Saint John’s Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christopher House Activity Fund, 10 Mary Scano Drive, Worcester, MA 01605.
