Obituary

Robert Carl Abrahamson, of Wellesley and Cotuit, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2011 at the age of 89 years.
Beloved son of the late Carl Rudolph and Edith Augusta (Lawson) Abrahamson. Husband of Margaret (Wheatley) Abrahamson. Father of Lisa Louise Nagel and her husband B. Michael of Wilmette, IL, Karl Reid Abrahamson and his wife Francoise McAree of Providence, R.I., and the late Kristen Lee Abrahamson. Grandfather of Kyle Patrick Nagel and Cory Michael Nagel both of Wilmette,IL. Brother-in-law of John Lewis Wheatley, Jr. of Arlington and Mona Meyers Wheatley of Nantucket. Uncle of John Lewis Wheatley, III of Foxboro, Linda Ann Wheatley of Montpelier, VT, and A. Allison Wheatley Bovard of Dallas, TX.
Mr. Abrahamson was born in Watertown on June 4, 1922. And raised in Lancaster, PA. He graduated from Arlington High School, earned his AB from Harvard College, and his MA from the Harvard University School of Design. He was a WWII veteran of the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Abrahamson practiced architecture for over 50 years with a special emphasis on library restoration and renovation. As a young man he was very active in the Jordan Marsh – Boston Traveler Junior Aviation League building model airplanes and won numerous local and national awards. Throughout his life he enjoyed sailing, golf, gardening, cooking, writing, and watercolor painting. He was a member of the Wellesley Club, the Harvard Club, a 33rd degree Mason, the Meridian Lodge AF & AM in Natick, the Harvard Lodge, The Mariners Lodge of Cotuit, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Boston.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at 2:00 PM in St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 79 Denton Rd. Wellesley. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the 32nd Degree Masonic Learning Center, 33 Marrett Rd. Lexington, MA 02421.
