Kevin J. "AJ" Amaral, Jr., 16, of New Bedford died November 11, 2011 at Children's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Ann M. Gauthier and Kevin J. Amaral, both of New Bedford, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Despite Kevin's extensive illness, he always stayed strong and always had a smile on his face. He enjoyed playing video games and watching John Cena, his wrestling idol, wrestle on TV. His Make-A-Wish was to meet John Cena.
Kevin attended Keith Junior High School prior to his illness. Because his illness was so rare, the doctors that treated him all his life learned much from caring for him. He was loved by many and will always be remembered.
Survivors include his parents; 2 brothers, Michael Gauthier and Casey Amaral, both of New Bedford; 2 sisters, Cheyanne Ruel and Jenna Amaral, both of New Bedford; his paternal grandmother, Maria (Xavier) Furtado of New Bedford; a nephew, Aiden Ruel; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 19th from 2-6 PM followed by his Funeral Service at 6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
