Alice M. (Crowley) Adie, 68, of Mansfield passed away peacefully on Thursday November 10, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the beloved wife of William A. Adie,Jr. to whom she was wed on September 13, 1969.
Born in Wareham, MA on June 1, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Nora (Murphy) Crowley.
Alice grew up in Wareham and Boston, and was educated in Boston Public Schools. A resident of Mansfield for the past 36 years, she had formerly made her home in Roslindale and Jamaica Plain.
Mrs. Adie was the retired Head Cook at the Jordan /Jackson Elementary School in Mansfield. She had been employed for the Mansfield school system for over 18 years of which she had also worked at the Robinson Elementary School and at Mansfield High School.
A communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Mansfield, she was also a former CCD teacher at St. Mary’s Church. Alice loved spending time in the presence of her adoring family. She enjoyed cooking and especially numerous family vacations by way of cruise ships.
In addition to her beloved husband of 42 years, she is survived by her devoted daughters; Karen A. Brotherton and her husband Michael W. and Andrea A. Adie all of Mansfield. The dear sister of the late Robert Crowley, Lorraine Vecchi, Barbara Meehan, Gail Donovan and Leona Unaka, she is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Prayer services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday November 14th at 10:30 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will follow in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday November 13th from 4-7 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flower’s, Alice’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, 330 Pratt St, Mansfield, MA 02048.
