Obituary

GLOUCESTER: Victoria Q. “Vickie” (Pecunies) Nelson, 95, died peacefully, Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of the late William A. Nelson who died in 2000.
Born in Portsmouth, New Hampshire on February 27, 1916, she was the daughter of the late James and Sadie (Carlson) Pecunies. She has resided in Gloucester most of her life.
Vickie was employed as a fish packer at Seafood Kitchens in Gloucester for over thirty-five years before retiring in 1988. She enjoyed cooking and baking and loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frederick W. and Elizabeth Nelson of Gilbert, Arizona; her daughter, Gail Enes of Gloucester; five grandchildren, Gary and his wife, Renee Nelson of Gilbert, AZ, Lynn Nelson of Queen Creek, AZ, Yvonne and her husband, Jay Ramsey of Essex and Vicki-Ann Lane and Mark and his wife, Shelly Enes all of Gloucester; nine great-grandchildren, Tanner and Hunter Nelson, Abigail, Morgan and James Ramsey, Erica and William Lane and Alexandre and Marisa Enes; one great-great-granddaughter, Sage Nelson and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by two brothers and three sisters, including her beloved sister, Mimi Borge.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday in the Pike-Grondin Funeral Home, 61 Middle Street, Gloucester at 9 a.m. Visiting hours will be held on Friday evening from 5 – 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, One Bulfinch Place, 2nd Fl., Boston, MA 02114 or to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101 First Ave., Ste. #6, Waltham, MA 02451-1115. Interment will be held in the Locust Grove Cemetery, Lanesville.
