H.P. O’Donnell of 13 Skyline Drive, Uncasville, died peacefully at home on November 6th, 2011.
He was born on October 10, 1917 in Oakland, MD to Edward R. O’Donnell and Frances Frisbie O’Donnell. “Harry” was discharged from the Army in 1946 and was employed by Glenn L. Martin Co. of Baltimore, MD until 1962. At this time he and his family moved to Connecticut. Harry retired from the Electric Boat Nuclear Quality Control in 1993. He served on the Montville Inlands Wetlands Commission from its inception until 2008.
Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rosemary, three daughters, Janet, Carolyn, and Mary, and eight much loved grandchildren. Survivors also include a sister, Miriam H. Mueller of Egg Harbor, NJ and a brother, Col. J.C. O’Donnell (Ret.-USAF) of Marietta, GA, and several nieces and nephews.
Harry had a quiet and off-beat sense of humor; was a trustworthy man and a good friend.
His family will gather for a private service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Nature Conservancy (www.nature.org).
