TAUNTON – George Abreau, Jr., husband of Evelyn M. (Santos) Abreau of Taunton, died at Morton Hospital & Medical Center on Nov. 6, 2011.
He was 91.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late George and Candida (Mendes) Abreau.
Raised and educated in Taunton, he served in the Army Air Corp during WWII.
Mr. Abreau was a co-owner/operator of Taunton’s Abreau Oil Service for many years.
He retired several years ago.
A communicant of St. Anthony Church, he was a member of the Portuguese American Civic Club and Elks Lodge 150.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, George Abreau, III and his wife Mary of Raynham; a sister, Mary Abreau of Taunton; four grandchildren, Laurie Barlow and Robert Abreau, both of Lakeville, Michaela Stone of TX, and Heather Coelho of Taunton; five great grandchildren, Adam Barlow, Ryan Abreau and Kaitlyn Abreau, all of Lakeville, Kristine and Nicholas Coelho, both of Taunton, and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late John, Joseph, Antone and Georgina Abreau.
Mr. Abreau’s funeral will be private at the convenience of the family.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
