Obituary

Halifax – Robert I. Thacker, Sr 84, died Saturday November 5 in his Halifax home after a period of failing health. He was the beloved husband of Annie (Carley) Thacker.

Born in Rose Bud, Arkansas he was the son of the late Ivy and Grace (Potter) Thacker.

Robert was a proud veteran of the US Navy having served during the Korean War from 1951-1954 and earning a Navy Occupation Medal and a National Defense Service Medal for his service.

Before his retirement he had worked for over 27 years as a mechanic for Grossman’s

He had been a resident of Rockland for over 30 years before his move to Halifax where he had resided for the last 15 years.

He was a talented mechanic and loved the challenge of rebuilding old cars. He also enjoyed and completed woodworking projects of all kinds.

In addition to his loving wife Annie he is survived by his children Robert Thacker, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Maine, Laurie Kinsherf of Hanover, Jennifer Noe of Braintree, Susan Brown of Whitman, and Linda Calmer and her husband Merle of Nebraska, and his sister Altaree and her husband Charles of IL as well as 18 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ruth Langly and Katherine Wortham.

His funeral service will be held Saturday November 12 at 2 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Inc. (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman. Visiting hours will be held Friday November 11 from 3-5 PM.
