Obituary

Clifton G. Taylor, 85, passed away at home on Friday, November 4 surrounded by his loving family.

His passing follows that of his wife of 60 years and love of his life, Margaret-Mary (Davenport) Taylor in 2007. He will be dearly missed by his two children, Victor Taylor and Deborah Entwistle, of Leicester,MA; his six grandchildren Sarah Taylor, Rebecca Taylor and Charles Entwistle, of Leicester, MA, Belinda Tompkins of Hampstead, NH, Andrew Taylor of North Reading, MA and Elizabeth Entwistle of Ann Arbor, MI; and his two great-grandchildren, Stella Entwistle of Leicester, MA and Thomas Cody Tompkins of Hampstead, NH. He joins a seventh grandchild, Matthew Taylor, who passed away in 1997.

Clifton was a dedicated and loving husband, a model father and loving grandfather. He was born in East Burke, VT and moved to Leicester, MA as a teenager. He served as a Sergeant in the US Marines during WWII in the Pacific. He owned Bay-State Shoe Co. on Hammond St. in Worcester, MA and worked for many years for HH Brown Shoe Co. in Worcester, MA. He was a skilled gardener and enjoyed playing the guitar.

The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8 at 11:00AM in The Leicester Unitarian Church, Washburn Square, Leicester. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery, in the Cherry Valley section of Leicester. Calling hours are from 4:00-7:00 PM on Monday, Nov. 7 in the MORRISON-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
