Thomas Nelson Wood, Jr., 74, of New Bedford died Thursday November 3, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Charlotte A. (Carroll) Wood.
Born in New Bedford on November 4, 1936, the son of the late Thomas Nelson Wood and Beatrice (Pittsley) Wood, he lived in New Bedford for all of his life.
Mr. Wood was formerly employed as a automotive repairman for Park Motors in Fairhaven.
He was devoted to his wife and his family. He was an animal lover.
Survivors include his wife; seven children, Thomas Nelson Wood, III, Robin Charlotte Bennett, Audrey Ann Wood, Timothy Brian Wood, Lane Patrick Wood, Tracy B. Wood-Oliveira, and Ty Nelson Wood; his siblings, Bernard, Doris , Eleanor, Jeanne, Gloria, and Norma; six grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister Florence.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday from 6-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
