Obituary

Maurice Theberge, 91, of Salem, NH died Tues., Nov. 1st at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA.

Maurice was born in Armagh in the Province of Quebec and moved to Lawrence with his parents and siblings as a young boy. He was educated in the Lawrence school system. He retired from Salem Plate Glass in Salem, MA where he worked as a glazier for 35 years. After his retirement, he held part time positions at Sears and Bradlees.

Maurice was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a Sergeant and Section Leader for anti-aircraft artillery and served in Africa, Sicily, Italy, Southern France and Germany. He received the Good Conduct Ribbon, the European-Africa-Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon with 7 Service Stars and was issued the Lapel Button WWII Victory Medal. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #8546 of Salem, NH.

He was a member and usher at St. Joseph Church in Salem for many years, a member of Salem Athletic Club and a volunteer with the Salem Caregivers. Maurice enjoyed reading, talking about cars, Caribbean cruises and trips to Rye Harbor.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice (Fiola) Theberge of Salem, a daughter Janice and her husband Richard Morrell of Salem, one granddaughter Candice (Morrell) and her husband Michael Fioravanti of North Kingston, RI and several nieces and nephews.

At Maurice’s request, arrangements are private. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society for research for colon cancer, 2 Commerce Dr. Suite 110, Bedford, NH 03110.
