Obituary

Paul Andre “Andy” Fortin, 86, died Thursday morning, November 3, 2011 at Hospice House in Concord.

He was a proud native of Manchester, born on December 31, 1924, the son of Ulric & Diana (Goyette) Fortin. He grew up in East Manchester, graduated from St. Joseph High School, attended Hesser Business College and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Manchester born Noella Biron on April 15, 1950.

After several retail management assignments in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, the F.W. Woolworth Company brought him to Presque Isle, Maine. After spending ten enjoyable years there, raising his young family, he returned home to Manchester to work for the W.T Grant Company in Bedford. His later career years were spent with Goulet Supply Company as their Appliance Division Manager. He enjoyed traveling and an active lifestyle, working around the house and spending time with his family.

Family members include one daughter, Gloria MacNeil and husband Paul of Manchester; two sons, Daniel Fortin and wife Kathleen of Bedford, Marc Fortin and wife, Melissa, of Manchester and their two children, Nicholas and Alexandra Fortin; one sister, Helene Gingras, and her husband, Armand, of Manchester and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Noella, in 2001, a grandson, Sean, in 1997, and three sisters, Jeanne Carbonneau, Beatrice Fortin and Yvette Fortin.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, November 7, 2011 at St. Catherine Church, 207 Hemlock Street, Manchester NH, followed by burial at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Road in Manchester.

In tribute to his youthful spirit and the fond childhood memory of the place he learned to box, Memorial Donations may be made to the Manchester Boys & Girls Club, 555 Union Street, Manchester, N.H. 03104-4840.
