Hubert Alvin Evans, 78, of Perry, Georgia, died Thursday, November 3, 2011, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins.
Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Arp Cemetery with Rev. Wayne McCrimmon officiating.
Mr. Evans was born October 12, 1933 in Turner County to the late James Everette “Red” and Eula Mae Phillips Evans. He graduated from Irwinville High School in 1950 and lived most of his life in Houston County. Mr. Evans served in the Georgia National Guard. He was a former Civil Service employee and retired from law enforcement, having worked for the Houston County Sheriff’s Department and the Perry Police Department. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Houston Lodge #35 F.&A.M. in Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia Dixon Evans of Perry; sons and daughters-in-law, Terry & Kim Evans of Thomson and Kelly & Kelly Evans of Centerville; grandchildren, Cory (Marie) Evans, Brandon (Tammy) Evans, Stefanie (Matt) Rushing and Andrew Evans and 6 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James E. Evans and a sister, Annette Calhoun.
