TAUNTON – Evelyn A. (Mancini) Furtado, wife of Joseph Furtado of Taunton, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Nov. 2, 2011.
She was 85.
Born in Italy, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Genoveffa (Francesco) Mancini.
She was raised and educated in Brooklyn, NY, after moving to the U.S. at the age of three.
She relocated to the Taunton area as an adult.
A retired executive secretary, Mrs. Furtado was employed by the former Sheffield Silver Company, the New Brite Chemical Company, and more recently, the Taunton Board of Health.
She loved animals, and enjoyed reading, knitting, and solving crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Furtado was a communicant of St. Nicholas of Myra Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Denise Mercurio and her husband Don Gilbert of Taunton, and Lisa J. Murray and her husband Arthur of North Dighton; a stepson, Michael J. Furtado of Tiverton, RI; two grandchildren, Jennifer Cook and Joseph Furtado; and two great grandsons, Barrett and Shawn.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Monday Nov. 7th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Nicholas of Myra Church, N. Dighton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at Westville Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday Nov. 6th from 4 to 7 p.m.
