Gerald Roberts, 72, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Tuesday, November 1, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, November 3 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Gay and Rev. Harris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Prospect Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Roberts was born September 22, 1939 in Irwin County to the late Thomas E. Roberts and the late Effie Roberts Frint. He lived in Fitzgerald most of his life and was a former resident of Lakeland, Florida. Mr. Roberts was a retired Brick Mason and owner/operator of Roberts Construction. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and attended Prospect Baptist Church. Enjoying many sports, Mr. Roberts was an avid softball player for many years. He also enjoyed playing pool, fishing and bowling. He received many awards and trophies for all the sports in which he participated..
He is survived by his wife, Linda Young Roberts of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses, Robert Gerald “Jerry” Roberts, Jr. & Anna of Fitzgerald, Alan Roberts of Broxton and Cindy Dennard & Brian of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, John Henry Roberts, Ty Dennard and Emma Jo Roberts; brother, Kenneth & Cathy Roberts of Lakeland, FL. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Roberts.
