…retired Engineer,Veteran; 75
TEWKSBURY - Eugene F. Tosto, age 75, a Korean War Era Veteran and retired engineer, died Sunday, October 30, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in West Roxbury, following a long struggle with his health. He was the beloved husband of Janet V. (Michals) Tosto, with whom he would have celebrated his "Golden" 50th wedding anniversary on January 7th, 2012.
He was born in South Boston, one of five children of the late Salvatore and Rose (Cocchiara) Tosto, and was raised in Medford. He graduated from Medford High School, and went to Boston University School of Engineering.
During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Army's 10th Mountain Division, assigned to the reconstruction forces in Germany.
Upon discharge, he began a 35 year career as a packaging engineer with the Standard Thompson company, now known as Stant company.
He was a Life Member of the Tewksbury Rod and Gun Club, and was known as the "President Emeritus" of the membership. He also served in many capacities with the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks and Boy Scouts of America, Troop 322, including Committee Chairman.
Besides his wife, he is survived by five children and their spouses, Lisa Woodhead and her husband Randy of Glocester, RI, Eugene Tosto Jr., and his fiance Lucia F. Moul of No. Attleboro, John P. Tosto of Tewksbury, Anthony S. Tosto and his wife Janice (Lemelin) of Billerica, Christopher J. Tosto and his wife Sarah (Wheeler) of Keene, NH; thirteen grandchildren, Alyssa, Randy, Sean, and Zachary Woodhead, Alle Bothelo, Samantha , and Sabrina Moul, Paul, Brad and Brittany Tosto, Vinny, and Samantha Tosto, Rylee Rose Tosto; four sisters and brothers, Anne Nocera of Plano, TX, Salvatore and his wife Teresa Tosto of Norman, OK, Grace and her husband Richard Fratto of NH and FL, Paul and his wife Elaine Tosto of Medford; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated Friday, Nov. 4, in St. William's Church, 1351 Tewksbury. Burial with Army Honors followed at Tewksbury Cemetery. Donations in his name may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105 or visit [email protected]
