Obituary

Joseph J. Roderick of North Truro died Saturday, October 29th at the Seashore Point Wellness Center in Provincetown. He was 89. His wife, Emily (Rivers) Roderick died in August of 1999.

Born in Provincetown, he was the son of the late Stephan and Lucinda (Souza) Roderick. A graduate of Provincetown High School, he was a World War II Navy veteran. During the war, he served in the Pacific, as a member of the submarine service. Upon his return to Provincetown he became a commercial fisherman, which he loved.

He was a life-long member of St Peter the Apostle parish, and both a Third and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post #3152, Provincetown and the John R. McKay Post #287, American Legion, Wellfleet.

He leaves a brother, Bernard ‘Sonny” Roderick and sister, Mary Reis, both of Provincetown. In addition to his wife, two sons, Thomas and James Roderick predeceased him. He was also predeceased by Brothers Stephen, Arthur and David Roderick as well as his sisters, Ida Cocker and Jean, Veronica, and Bertha Roderick.

A Funeral Mass will be held at a date to be announced. Memorial donations, if desired may be made to the Seashore Point Residents’ Fund, 100 Alden St, Provincetown, MA 02657.
