Berlin, MA
Leslie C. French, Jr., 94, formerly of Northbrook Village, Berlin, died on Sunday, Oct. 23rd at Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center in Northboro.
Mr. French was the son of the late Helen (Baker) French and Leslie C. French Sr. of Stoneham and husband of the late Minnie Louise (Smith) French. He leaves his brother, Richard French of Norfolk, VA and was the brother of the late Gertrude (French) Hunt of Agawam and William French of Manchester, NH.
He was born in Medford and was a 1935 graduate of Stoneham High School and later a graduate of Burdett College. He was a merchandiser for Wise Potato Chip Co. prior to starting his own business which he ran until his retirement in 1982. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Army European Theatre of Operations. He excelled in sports and loved the big band music of the 30’s and 40’s.
Besides his brother, he is also survived by his niece, Patricia (Hunt) Odiorne of Southwick; a cousin, Virginia Sorrentino of San Jose, CA; a nephew, Richard Hunt of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters-in-law, Doris (Traylor) Newell of Bolton and Bertha French of Manchester, NH and six nephews, Terry Traylor of Berlin, Tom Traylor of Clinton, Allan Traylor of Lunenburg, Andy Traylor of Bolton, Dan Traylor of Lancaster and Tim Traylor Highlands Ranch, CO.
Family and friends may attend a calling hour from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29th at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Peabody.
