McNeil of Brockton March 4, 2004, Donald C. McNeil, Sr., 66 years. Husband of Thelma M. (MacDougall) McNeil. Father of Donald C. McNeil, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Norton and Dianne P. McNeil Amero and her husband Michael of Mansfield. Grandfather of Nathan McNeil. Brother of Mary Vachon of Wilmington and Bernice McNeil of Randolph.

Funeral from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday at 8 am. Funeral Mass in St. Colman Church at 9 am. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Sunday 3-7 pm. Donations may be made in Donald’s memory to the Jimmy Fund /Dana Farber, 375 Longwood Ave.,Boston, MA 02215.

Obituary Information

Mr. McNeil died on Thursday at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston after a brief illness. Born and raised in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, son of the late Alexander and Catherine (Downing) McNeil. He moved to Dorchester with his family as a teenager. In the 1960’s he served in the US Army as a photo specialist and was stationed in Germany. He had been employed for over 30 years at Honeywell Bull in Billerica, retiring in 1995 as a manger. He had also been employed by John Hancock Insurance as a contractor for the past four years. He enjoyed photography, grilling, crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. He was also an avid Boston sports fan, and a long time communicant of St. Colman Church.

He is survived by his wife Thelma M. (MacDougall) McNeil, a son, Donald C. McNeil, Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Norton and a daughter, Dianne P. McNeil Amero and her husband Michael of Mansfield and a grandson Nathan McNeil, two sisters, Mary Vachon of Wilmington and Bernice McNeil of Randolph and several nieces and nephews.
