Obituary

Eleanor H. “Saint” (St. Pierre) O’Connor, 87, of Manchester, died October 24, 2011 surrounded by her loving family after a period of declining health.
She was born in Manchester on December 29, 1923 to Joseph and Anna (Reagan) St. Pierre. She graduated from St. Joseph High School for Girls in 1941 and was a lifelong resident of Manchester.
Eleanor was an avid athlete who excelled in tennis and basketball and won many state and city titles. She especially enjoyed her lifelong friendship with her sewing club friends.
She was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph Cathedral in Manchester and was a member of the choir at that parish for 34 years.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Lt. Col. Kelly O’Connor in 2006, and by her three brothers, Albert, Roland and Bernie St. Pierre.
She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and “Nanna”.
The family includes eight children, Dennis, Gary and Kevin O’Connor, and Maureen McQuaid all of Manchester, Linda Beaudette of Glenwood Springs, CO, Kathy O’Connor of Belmont, Kelly O’Connor of Alexandria, VA, and Col. Brian O’Connor of Arlington, VA; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Friday, October 28, 2011 at St. Joseph Cathedral, corner of Pine and Lowell streets, Manchester. Committal prayers followed at St. Joseph Cemetery, 448 Donald St., Bedford.
