Obituary

Forrester, David S. of Marshfield, Oct 22, at the age of 68, died peacefully at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth surrounded by his family. Survived by his mother Helen (Kenney) Forrester of No.Weymouth, his wife of 45 years, Mary (Holst) Forrester of Marshfield. Their children, Beth and her husband Jim Norman, children Maggie and Ellie all of New Hampshire. Katie and husband Rick Culliton, children Emily, Annie, and Claire all of Ct. Mary Ellen of Marshfield. David and his wife Mollie of Seattle,WA. Heather Forrester, her daughter Molly of Weymouth, and her fiancé, Padraig McGailey all of Weymouth, and Michael and his wife Melissa of Braintree. Also survived by brothers Daniel of Waltham, and Edward of New Hampshire. Brother to Barbara Calabro, and Kathleen Forrester both of NO. Weymouth. Born July 17, 1943, in Augusta, GA, while his father was stationed at the army base at Fort Gordon, GA. David graduated from Weymouth High School, and served 4 years in the United States Navy. He then attended Bentley College, graduating from their evening division in 1973 with a degree in accounting. He took great pride in his work as Director of Finance at organizations serving children and adults with special needs; Cardinal Cushing School in Hanover and South Shore ARC in Weymouth. He was a volunteer for South Shore Area Special Olympics. He was the past president of Hanover Chamber of Commerce. Also a former member of the South Shore Chamber of Commerce where he was chairman for the Outing Committee for many years. David was active in Respect Life activities, and was the first state treasurer of Massachusetts Citizens for Life. He was very active in his parish, Our Lady of the Assumption in Marshfield where he was a former lector. David was a former member of the board of South Shore visiting nurses and also a former member of the board of Overseers at South Shore Hospital. David was a “wicked big” Boston Sports fan, but his greatest pleasure was being together with his six children and six granddaughters at family gatherings.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, Oct 28th from 4 to 8 pm at the MacDonald Funeral Home 1755 Ocean St Rte 139 Marshfield.
Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home on Saturday Oct. 29 followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 40 Canal St Marshfield at 10:00 am.
Interment will be in the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
