Reverend Francis A. Regan 82, of Framingham, entered into eternal life Oct 23, 2011. Fr Regan was born in Boston and raised in Jamaica Plain; he graduated from St. John’s Seminary Brighton with an A.B. and from Catholic University with a degree in Systematic Theology. Fr Regan was ordained September 29, 1953 in the Holy Cross Cathedral, Boston, his first assignment was as an assistant in St Mary Star of the Sea, in Beverly1953. While attending Catholic University Fr Regan was assigned as a Temporary Assistant in Mary Immaculate of Lourdes in Newton 1957 and Our Lady of Good Voyage in Gloucester 1958. He became an Assistant in St Mary of the Hills in Milton 1959. Fr Regan between 1961 and Nov 1968 was on Lend Lease in Buffalo, NY., while an Assistant in St Cecilia Church in Boston. He then was an Assistant in St Joseph Church in Ipswich 68/69. In 1969 he joined the Faculty of Pope John XXIII Seminary in Weston until 1976, then became Associate Pastor in the Immaculate Conception Church Marlboro until 1978, during that time he was the Chaplin to the District Court in Marlboro. In 1978 Fr Regan became a Parish Priest in St Bridget Church in Maynard, Administrator of St Bridget 84/85 being named Pastor of the Church in 1985/87. In 1987 he became Pastor of St Christine Church in Marshfield and was Re-appointed in 1993 – 2T and in 1999 – 3T. Fr became a Senior Priest in 2005.
Fr Regan was the son of the late Francis A. and Julia (Murphy) Regan. A dear cousin of the late Mary Grozier, the late Jean Campbell and the late Ruth Halligan. Also survived by many cousins and dear friends.
Fr. Regan will Lie-In-State Thursday October 27, from 3:00 to 8:00 pm in St Christine's Church 1295 Main St Marshfield.
A Funeral Mass celebrating his life will be held on Friday at 10:00 am.
Interment will be in St Bridget Cemetery Maynard Friday at 2:15 pm.
