Obituary

Salem: Rita A. (Rainville) Finniss, age 89 of Salem, died Sunday morning, October 23, 2011 at the Grosvenor Park Nursing Center in Salem, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Warren J. Finniss.

Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Ludger and Emelia M. (Dube) Rainville. A graduate of Salem High Class of ’40, Rita married Warren in 1946 and devoted the following years to the raising of her family. She also began working at the Salem Card Shop, which she eventually bought and continued to operate until the mid 1970’s.

Rita was a devoted member of the former St. Joseph Parish where she was active in the Bingo program, and particularly the Hospitality Committee for the parish. She was devoted to her family, her extended family and her parish family as well.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Linda M. Babcock of Salem, Cynthia A. Tache of Amesbury, Kathleen J. Burke of Methuen, Susan M. Hutchison and her husband Mark of Franklin, a son James V. Finniss and his wife Maria of Arnold, MD. She also leaves 2 brothers, Andre Rainville and his wife Ginnie of Madeira, FL, R. Emile Rainville and his wife Gail of Venice, FL, a sister-in-law, Loretta Rainville of Salem as well as 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Louis, J. Roger & George Rainville, and a sister, Anita Oliver.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visiting hours on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Rt. 114 / 1-A] Salem, to be followed by her funeral mass in St. James Church, Federal St., Salem at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
